Outdoor Retailer‘s Winter and Summer Market in Salt Lake City has been a home away from home for BCM. We always enjoy our time visiting with friends, volunteers, and sponsors; and sharing our successes from the past season while promoting our upcoming work in the field. This past Winter OR was particularly special because we were recognized in front of our peers as an Inspiration Award Winner in the Nonprofit category.
It was an incredible honor to be nominated alongside 1% For the Planet and Veteran’s Expeditions, but to win in front of over 500 attendees was mind blowing. Presented by Adidas Outdoor, the Inspiration Awards were created 6 years ago to celebrate those “that inspire and encourage others in their communities to enjoy, participate in and support outdoor activities and the outdoor industry.” Other categories that were recognized include: Individual (Andy Janicki), Manufacturer (LifeStraw), Retailer, (Alpenglow Sports), and Youth (Jackie Timmins).
“The Outdoor Inspiration Awards embraces the heart and soul of our brand and the outdoor industry community as well,” said Greg Thomsen, managing director for adidas Outdoor USA. “It is important to recognize those who actively engage and enlighten others to discover the benefits of the outdoor experience. These inspirational leaders play a key role in propelling the future of the outdoor industry and the world we live in.”
We want to offer our thanks and appreciation to the judging panel that included Greg Thomsen, John Stewart of the Boy Scouts of America, Kristin Hostetter, representing AIM Media, Lisa Hennessy from Dreamjobbing, Rue Mapp of OIA / Outdoor Afro and Dieter Tremp from ISPO. Moreover, thank you to the event’s key sponsors, adidas Outdoor and Boy Scouts of America, along with media partners OR Daily, SNEWS and DreamJobbing.
