In the depths of winter, the summer program season can seem pretty far away. But we’ve got some great events in Colorado in February and March to keep you busy while you’re waiting to volunteer.
prAna in Boulder is hosting a Gear Donation Drive for BCM!
prAna Boulder is looking to give your unused gear new life by hosting Clothing for Positive Change! This gear donation drive for Big City Mountaineers will run February 20-22.
As we outfit our expedition students from head to toe, we’re always looking for top quality, lightweight, gently used equipment. Used gear that you’re looking to retire need not apply!
We need:
2 and 3 person (3 season) backpacking tents | Synthetic “puffy-type” insulating jackets | Trekking-style lightweight pants and long sleeve shirts | Camp shoes | nylon group size tarps | Sunglasses in good condition | Trekking poles |
Synthetic mummy-style 3 season sleeping bags.
Stop by the Prana store between 10a-7p February 20th-22nd, and give youth the gift of your gear!
We’re tabling at the Banff Mountain Film Festival in Boulder!
Ever wondered what exactly it is that Big City Mountaineers does? Come see us at our table at the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival, presented by Access Fund, in Boulder February 25th, 26th, and 27th to find out!
We’ll be around before the films start and at intermission to answer questions, give out stickers, and sign people up for local volunteer information nights.

Action for Adventure is coming to Patagonia Denver!
In Denver and feeling the need to get outdoors and hyped about what you can do to help? Come to Patagonia Denver on Thursday, March 5th from 7-9 for a FREE evening of films, talks, and volunteer signups!
The main event? NOLS will show some Exploration Films, and then a Protect Our Winters ambassador will talk about turning passion into purpose. Then, Big City Mountaineers and other non-profits will have tables to check out. Ask questions, get stickers, and learn more about our summer programs!
